Appointment to the Diversity Leadership Council

2023–2024 council term · Whiting School of Engineering

Appointee: Adler Archer, JD Body: Johns Hopkins Diversity Leadership Council Term: 2023–2024 council roster Division: Whiting School of Engineering

Adler Archer, JD, was appointed to the Johns Hopkins University Diversity Leadership Council (DLC) for the 2023–2024 term, representing the Whiting School of Engineering as Senior Advisor for Strategic Initiatives. The council is documented in the Office of Diversity and Inclusion's Diversity Leadership Awards program.

The Diversity Leadership Council comprises students, faculty, and staff from across Johns Hopkins' nine divisions. The council advises university leadership on diversity and inclusion, encourages programs that support equity and equal opportunity, and urges progress where the institution can improve. For more than twenty years, the DLC has advocated for domestic partner benefits, a more welcoming environment for persons with disabilities, diversity training for supervisors, divisional diversity councils, and the annual Diversity Leadership Awards.

General members are selected each year through a nomination process. Adler was previously recognized at the 2018 Diversity Recognition Awards Ceremony; see Diversity Recognition (2018). His appointment followed participation in university-wide DEI work, including speaking at the Second JHU Roadmap on DEI kick-off in March 2022 on systems thinking and diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The council hosts the annual Diversity Leadership Awards ceremony, the Diversity and Inclusion Conference, and the Diversity Innovation Grants program—recognizing faculty, staff, and students who advance inclusion across Johns Hopkins.
