Dr Harold Lehmann, MD, PhD, professor of Biomedical Informatics and Data Science and an Adler Archer Laboratory member, was among the faculty honored when Johns Hopkins celebrated its 2025 Catalyst and Discovery Award recipients at the George Peabody Library on October 23, 2025—part of the university’s 150th-anniversary celebration of research and discovery.

The ceremony recognized promising early-career faculty through Catalyst Awards and cross-divisional research teams through Discovery Awards. This year, 38 interdisciplinary teams received Discovery Awards, selected from 274 proposals across 12 Johns Hopkins entities.

Lehmann’s team was honored for “Transforming Hypertension Care Through Artificial Intelligence: A Multi-Divisional Initiative Enabling Clinicians to Drive Precision Population Health Improvements.” Collaborators include Yvonne Commodore-Mensah (Nursing), Alhassan Yasin (Engineering), Oluwabunmi Ogungbe (Nursing), Lisa Cooper (Medicine), Serwaa Karikari (Business), and Judy Greengold (Medicine).

The Johns Hopkins Urban Health Institute highlighted the ceremony as part of Hopkins’ legacy of research that strengthens communities and improves lives. Vice Provost for Research Denis Wirtz noted that the 2025 celebration came at a fitting moment for the university: “For 150 years, our community has met uncertainty with creativity and purpose.”
