Dr Erika Ito, MD · Student Opportunities Award · 2025–26

Fellow: Dr Erika Ito, MD (MPH/MBA '26) Award: Student Opportunities Award, 2025–26 Partner: CAF — Banco de Desarrollo de América Latina y el Caribe Lab role: Fellow, Digital Health and AI Track

Dr Erika Ito, MD, a fellow in the Adler Archer Laboratory's Digital Health and AI Track, is a 2025–26 recipient of the Bloomberg School of Public Health Student Opportunities Award. Funded by alumni and friends of the school, the award offsets financial barriers for students completing non-compensated applied learning experiences.

Ito collaborated with CAF — Banco de Desarrollo de América Latina y el Caribe to lead the first regional mapping of digital and mental health investments in Latin America and the Caribbean. Her analysis identified gaps, funding patterns, and priority areas for coordinated investment—to inform digital innovation strategies for equitable, community-based mental health services.

Ito is pursuing an MPH/MBA dual degree through the Bloomberg School of Public Health and the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School. The project connects her clinical background with applied health systems research and cross-border investment analysis in digital health.
